Late June - Early July 2025 - Tattoos, Opapiskaw, Pine Point, The Spirit Sands, and the roses and Lillies in bloom.

Hi, thanks for stopping by the blog.  My Name is Bram, and I'm a tattooer from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. here are a few new tattoos and photos around the studio from the last few weeks, a few photos from around the province, and a couple shots from the Winnipeg Folk Fest this last weekend.

A well-healed tattoo of a Peregrine Falcon perched on a bollard.  Scenes that you may see out the window of your parents car when you were young is a theme I really enjoy, power-lines, blackbirds in the reeds, things like that, I love.

A hummingbird moth for a new client, memories of childhood.

A Red Squirrel.

Great Grey Owl

This is a detail of a full-arm project, I recon we'll complete it in the next month or so.  If you have a simple nature theme you'd like to explore in large scale as a tattoo, don't be shy to run your idea by me, I'd be glad to do more large scale stuff.

A cheeky little duck tattoo...

"Photo 51", celebrating women's achievements in science despite men's tendency to act stupid...

A well-healed Swallowtail Butterfly among clusters of flowers, one of my favourite tattoos ever.

Healed Chickadee on a pine bough, another personal favourite.

Prairie Crocuses.  I drew this design from life at the Narcisse Snake dens a couple years back, I'm always happy to play with the Prairie Crocus.

If you scroll back in my posts, you'll find a post of "Available designs", showcasing many of the designs I have available to be tattooed.  I'm always adding to this collection, and am also happy to make custom tattoos.  Email me at bram_adey@hotmail.com with any booking inquiries.

This is my apprentice Myes at work.  Her work is inspired by Tradition wester tattooing of the late 19th and early 20th century, Americana and Japanese themes abound, classy, timeless!  ladymyesxoxo@gmail.com

My Coworker Doxthrasher doing what they do best, three back-to-back days to make a freehand backpiece for a dedicated old client.  doxthrasher@protonmail.com

My coworker Ruth with a little crystal tattoo a few weeks ago, fun, whimsical designs, delicate and light hearted. ruthmtattoo@gmail.com

All of these colour photos were taken at my studio Ritual Winnipeg, I'm so happy with how the studio has shaped up this last year and a half.  We have a great little crew who I'm so inspired by and excited to spend my weeks with.  Visit our website, www.ritualwinnipeg.com to see everyone's work.

You can find me in-studio Tuesday-Friday, 10-6, at:

70 Arthur St - Unit 420
Winnipeg, Manitoba

I went and checked out the Spirit Sands with my younger one.  It had been a while...

Last summer got gobbled up by having just opened Ritual, so this year I've been really enjoying getting out and about in the province, so much getting out...

Out at the big lake...

On the Brokenhead interpretive trail, the Lady slippers were going off!  I've been to this spot a bunch of times, but never in the heat of summer, I was glad we went!

Opapiskaw in the Whiteshell.

Pine Point

One of my favourite places.

Pileated Woodpecker

Red-Sided Garter Snake

Fred Penner

Hurray for the Riff Raff

And my absolute favourite, Gillian Welch

From Downtown...

...to the West End.

Thanks a lot for checking out the blog.  Send me an email if you'd like to come for a tattoo, feel free to check out my instagram, @bramadey for more tattoo content, or my photography instagram, @this_is_bram_adey for more photos.

June 2025 - Tattoos, Trees in bloom, The Big Lake, some Skateboarding.

Hi, welcome to my blog, my name is Bram Adey, and I'm a tattooer in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.  I specialize in black and grey nature tattoos, but also enjoy geometric tattoos, traditional tattoo themes, and iconographic stick and poke designs.

If you'd like to get tattooed, email me at bram_adey@hotmail.com to get the ball rolling!

Swallowtail butterfly tattoo.

Peony elbow tattoo.

Horseshoe and clover tattoo.

Sea shell and Tulip tattoos.

I'm glad to have taken some time earlier this month to put a bit of work into this tattoo machine.  I acquired this Seth Cifferi Walker from my friend Andrew at Main Street Tattoo Collective when we worked together at Rebel Waltz in aroudn 2012.  I've rebuilt it a few times, and this time I finally sawed off a bunch of excess material, and re-shaped the tube vice, very satisfying!

I'm excited to have some nice photos of this geometric forearm tattoo from the late 2010's.  This type of pattern is known to me as a "cairo-type" and I'd be glad to do more work like this if you're interested.

Fireweed forearm tattoo.

Monarch butterfly tattoo.

Some stick and poke tattoos for an old client.  Strictly ornamental.

Another iconographic stick and poke tattoo for an old client.  This is meant to be a grounding image, a home set on a river with wind blowing.

Common Loon chest tattoo.

Swan sternum tattoo.

I would love to do this tattoo of a snowy owl as a chest or sternum piece.  It is based on the taxidermy snowy owl at the Manitoba Museum, I know you know the one!

If you dig back in my blog posts, you will find one called "available designs" or something like that, you can find tons of available tattoo designs there, and I always have new flash designs and paintings coming down the line.

Most of my designs come from books like this, thanks Manitoba Museum!

I always start my days at the dining-table, doing some creative work, either working on upcoming custom tattoo projects, or flash designs.

With a bit of strong coffee...

...and a little snack to get me going!

In mid-July, I'll be showing some Photographic work at 226 Main Street in Winnipeg.  The opening will be on Friday, July 11th from 6-9pm, and the show will be on from the 11th to the 23rd, 12-6pm.  I will personally be keeping gallery hours on Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th.

Meanwhile at the hill:

This photo isn't much to look at, but I've never seen this type of duck before, so I'm excited to share it.

I was trying out this new lens, and not having much luck getting close enough to any wildlife, and then this cheeky little bird was interested in hanging out, and I got plenty close-enough for a good photo or two, it was a really nice little interaction.

I got out to Patricia Beach with the family, and it did not disappoint.   had a lovely time, little beach picnic, saw some cool wildlife and had a nice little swim.

A typically gorgeous sunset for Manitoba.

I also headed out to Spruce Woods and the Spirit Sands to hunt for snakes.  I didn't find the Smooth Green snakes or the Hognose snakes, but it was nice to get out of the city for a night anyhow.

Maybe this photo isn't much to look at, but this moth really was one of the most beautiful things I've seen in a while, it hit me just right.

Probably the best photo I shot all month, Milkweed flowers in bloom.

When I had been tattooing for a year and a half or so, I went out and tried to grind this ledge and got smoked.  I hit my head and had to take a day off work.  That was a big turning point in my life as a skater, I had to completely re-evaluate how I approach skateboarding, it has been a complicated thing to navigate.  It's been hard getting older and having to let go of my identity as a skateboarder, and find new ways of feeling accomplished without that athletic part being front-and-centre.

The ledge is no longer skateable, and I don't think anyone did actually end up grinding it, I never even really heard anyone else talk about or try it.  Am I wrong?

Proper skate-culture down at Sargent Park Skatepark!

Jared Arnason, Boardslide, West Broadway

Tyler Geurts, Wall Ride, West Broadway Skatepark

Well thank you so much for visiting the blog, I hope you enjoyed the photos.  Like I mentioned earlier, email me at bram_adey@hotmail.com for tattoo bookings in Winnipeg, my books are always open, and I'm always taking new clients.
